Book review #1: Me before you by Jojo Moyes

Me before you, Jojo Moyes

I am the kind of a reader who would usually read reviews and get recommendations from friends and fellow bibliophiles to read any book. I never just look up books on internet and start reading them. Yet, it was a bit different for "me before you" by Jojo Moyes.

I haven't read that much in the last few months due to school stress, homework and finals. I had neither the time nor the appetite for books and I honestly can't read if I'm not physically and mentally at ease, because I devote my whole time to the thing I'm reading. That is why I couldn't wait to get back to my reading routine and as soon as I had free time I downloaded "Me before you" ( as it came across my goodreads news feed) and started the journey.

The Epub version I had, was 859 pages and I tell you guys that I have not felt the time passing as I ate the first 450 pages of the book in a couple of hours. I didn't look away from my laptop screen for one second untill the battery was about to die and it was a first for me because I'm honestly not that much of a fast reader.

Now without further ado, let me start telling you about this book.

Me before you is the first book of a duology by Jojo Moyes. It tells the journey of a 26 years old plain Irish girl called Louisa Clark, who had all of a sudden lost her job at a Café and found herself looking for a new one to help her family. Louisa has been working in the same place for about six years and had no diplomas or qualifications, the thing that made her finding a new job a bit hard. That, until her boyfriend (the character I disliked most) found her one, as a carer for a quadriplegic man, Will Traynor who lives just by the other side of the Castle.

The first we weeks of Lou's job at the Traynor's were normal. She had to feel with her 35 Years boss 's sarcasm and hard mood. But who could blame him, his life was a bit tough. That, until she found out why she was employed in the first place. Her responsibility was not just to look at him and feed him, but to save him for ending his own life and give him something to live for.

Louisa did her best to make him happy and cheer him up a little bit. She spent hours in the library searching online for ways to make a quadriplegic enjoy his life, without any reminder of his disability, and despite some failed attempts she never gave up, she got closer to him and they bexame sort of friends. And to her benefit, he started talking more, smiling more, he would make sarcastic comments on her way of dressing and living, he'd tell her how she needed to do more things than just work he'd push her to venture out and widen her horizons. All that because he saw in her what she never noticed. He saw her potential and ability to bring joy to any place she is in.

This book has no twist or any over events. Like when you read it you're so at ease yet you so cannot wait to know what will happen and what situation Louisa is gonna be put in. The language and vocabulary used is nothing but great. My favorite chacarter is obviously Will, because he's got that wisdom and really hard mood that so relatable lol and my least two favorite are Louisa's younger sister and her boyfriend. All they do is drag things down.

I can't really state my best thing about this book because it taught me things I never thought I can learn from one book. It taught me that some people don't have the ability to choose how they live, so if you are well enough to choose for yourself a better life, do not hesitate. Do not miss the chance of venturing out and bringing it all to life. It has always put on the light on an important thing which is that you never know what a type of a person you really are or what kind of things you like to do unless and untill you've tried  everything you can possibly try.
(Don't knock it till you've tried it)

This book made me stop for a while and wonder if I'm living my life the way I want to live it, if these are the things I want to do and if I  have achieved what I want to achieve and this is why I started this blog. I needed to do the one thing I enjoy most.
My favorite quote is
"Push yourself. Don't Settle. Just live well. Just LIVE."

Note: this is my first ever time book reviewing so I hope that was enjoyable. Thanks for reading and don't judge lol
